She treats her job like an art and devotes endless hours to a cat-and-mouse game with her prey; following her everywhere, watching her, leaving her notes, and so on. Ombrage's job is her life and the only thing she truly cares about, other than money. Ombrage is a Shifter, which is to say that she has a corresponding male form she can become at will. Her male form, Shade, looks normal; she prefers to use it only when gathering information or stalking a target. The two parts are radically different. He is all the charm, wit, cheer, and warmth that she lacks. She, meanwhile, is pure emotionless ambition. Like many Shifters, Ombrage worked in a brothel for most of her life. The experience may have contributed to deadening what little emotion she had, but it also imprinted on her the power bodies have over one another. She prefers not to sell herself now, but she has no qualms about using every last asset to get what she wants. Semi-Spoiler: Ombrage recruited Flint, for a time, to help her with her work. She used his abilities to more efficiently find and weaken her targets. They also had a romantic entanglement, which is to say they slept together a whole lot. Although they are on opposite sides now, she bears him no ill will and would prefer they maintain an alliance.
