She was orphaned in the tiny town of Pao by unknown parents. Her inability to do magic and her general clumsiness has built her a lifelong reputation as an incompetant and a burden. Despite everything, Taya puts a lot of faith into other people and goes out of her way to make them happy, frequently at her own expense. She has a pointed lack of self-esteem and tends to blame herself for things that couldn't possibly be her fault. Growing up in a teeny town has also made her extremely naiive. Taya knows very little about the ways of the world or the potential people have to, oh, lie and manipulate. She trusts far more often than she should and this gets her in trouble. A lot. She also knows very little about other species or city life, let alone myths and history, and she has a steep learning curve ahead of her. Taya is generally shy but friendly. Even as her cohorts are at each other's throats, she stands behind each of them as friends. She also has a secret crush on Terryn which she will never ever tell him, ever.
